I would like to say a big thank you to all staff at the Hurdles for a lovely Birthday meal last night (24.6.10). The food and service were excellent, escpecially my Sea Bass. Been visiting the Hurdles since they opened three years ago and it has never failed me. Congratulations on the new decor as well, beautiful warm colours. Will look forward to visiting again very soon and also checking out The Bird in Hand at Lovedean. Thank you again.

Been to The Hurdles many times over the last couple of years. Always excellent service, wine & food. Took some friends last Saturday and they were very impressed. (They have had a couple of pubs themselves that were of very high standards. Not easily pleased but highly complimentary of The Hurdles)
I was looking on this website for details of your other pub, The Bird in Hand, that we want to try and I just thought I would add my appreciation. Keep up the good work Sarah & Co.

I would like to thank everyone at the hurdles for making my mums 60th meal a fantastic one. I booked a table for 14 people on 23/04/10 and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was outstanding, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I am so glad I booked this venue, and I shall be reccommending it to people in the future. And I will also be paying regular visits in future to try some more of the dishes on the menu. Thank you all so much for making the evening a special one.

this was mine and my girlfriends first trip to the hurdles, we went in expecting to pay overly priced food as is the common around these parts, unexpectedly the prices well very reasonable, we ordered the bread garlic and hummus as a sharing starter really nice ..as bread goes. for the mains i ordered belly of pork with sweet potato and gem ordered chicken wrapped in parma ham cabanara, im no critic but we do eat out ALOT, this was the best meal i have ever had out in my entire life and i made the manager very clear with this, the whole meal come to just under £40 that was with two pints and to glasses of orange little step but well worth it, the saying u get what you pay for isnt true with this pub because you get sooo much more!! thanks alot.

After arriving for our much anticipated culinary fest we arrived at the restaurant and guided to our seats, at first we became pretty frustrated by our 45 minute wait HOWEVER once the food started to arrive my partner and I were soon silence with the incredible food that was put before us, i have not stopped telling clients and friends alike what an amazing experience this is all food is sublime ! so i would like to say well done to The Hurdles for shutting me up after my 45 minute wait he he ! see you soon with my whole family and thanks for making our anniversary day an amazing experience

Visited the Hurdles on Mothers Day (14.3.10). The food was superb. The crispy beef salad with asian dressing is wonderful. The food was hot, presented beautifully and excellent value for money. My family and I will definetly be returning. Highly recommended.

Came for lunch last Sunday with my Aunt (who always sings your praises) and although very busy the service and food were excellent. As a restaurateur myself, I know how hard it is to maintain standards under pressure. Loved the oxtail pudding and the slightly crisped suet pasty. Will be back!

My husband and I went to the hurdles for my birthday meal we had never been there before but will definately come back for our anniversary in september.
The food was delicious and the staff were great,the young lady that served us was very attentive.
The food came out hot as well as the plates,all in all we had a lovely meal would recommend to anyone,keep up the good work.

I have been coming to The Hurdles and its previous names, for about 40 years or so. But this is the best it has ever been. ITS SUPERB.
I wonder if you have anything planned for the special 65 year anniversary to celebrate our greatest stateman arriving in your village prior to D-Day and Operation Overlord at the nearby disused railway station?? YES WINSTON CHURCHILL WAS HERE IN 1944, 5th June to be exact together with Eisenhower and they met DeGaulle up the line in a nearby tunnel!!

Having made a late booking for Sunday lunch, we arrived beofre time and were seated immediately. We then went on to enjoy three superbly cooked and presented main courses followed by the most delicious ice cream. The chef's skills were equally matched by those at front of house and we were suitably impressed by the knowledge of a member of the waiting staff who when asked knew the grape variety, Country of origin and importantly for us, the name of one of your superb house wines. Excellent. Don't change whatever you are doing as we will be back soon.

We have eaten at the Hurdles several times in the evening but this is the first time we have had Sunday lunch. It was absolutely delicious, the beef was melt in the mouth, the veg just the right degree of crispness and staff delightful. Will I ever cook a roast again? Why bother when the Hurdles do it so well!

Had a Sunday roast a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed and pleased.
